(29-Sep-2012) - An Amateurs Welcome..

On a rather wet and pouring evening, here in Fredericton Canada, I welcome all of you to the launch of my first ever 'personal' website.I've always been very interested in the art of photography but never had enough funds to own my very own professional camera.

It was the stress of graduate studies that finally pushed me to buy my own DSLR so as to have one hobby I had full control over. Gone were the days where I watched other photographers like Jared Polin and Chase Jarvis share tips and tricks about getting the right shot or just tweaking something minute to make the shot just a bit more special, it was my turn to learn by practice and put their tips to good use. (Mind you i still keep up with their podcasts religiously)

With the blink of an eye it's been almost 8 months i've been clicking pictures on a weekly basis, still trying to find some form of a speciality. Started off as an events photographer but then university closed for the summer and I switched to street photography. Following a given theme for every outing i was getting better at noticing certain aspects of my surroundings that helped make or break the shot. This even pushed me to experiment with various shutter and exposure settings. Trust me, some of my very first shots were either completely white (over-exposed) or pitch dark (under-exposed). Over the weeks i managed to grasp authority over my photo clicky thingy and i've never looked back.

As someone who loves to play sports more than read, photography has been one hobby that truly calms me in an artistic way (sounds cheesy and like something pulled out of a novel but i'm serious).

I think i'll leave it to that for now and take things slowly but before i leave, the picture seen on the right is of the rain droplets on the window in my room. It was clicked using the, ever so popular, staple hipster photography app - Instagram. It's mainstream but i feel like this simple lil' app has helped me get my framing right at a fixed focal point.

Until next time...remember..
IT'S ALWAYS IN THE FRAME..
