(8-Apr-2013) - A Short Update..

[ Listening to : Krewella - Alive (Stephen Swartz RMX) ]

Yes it has been a while but school work and surviving generally takes precedence over photography at the moment. Not going to lie but it has been a while since i've actually touched my DSLR. My research work is almost on its last legs. I just want to graduate ASAP, find a job and then dive into experimenting with and exploring photography even further.

Instead of my trusty T2i, i have been using the camera i have on me at all times - the iPhone. It's still very difficult for me to pass up on the perfect photographic moment. Oh and it is a lot quicker to use the iPhone camera than to pull out and fiddle around with the setting on the DSLR.

The results can be seen to the right.

(P.S. - sorry for the sideways blog post. 4ormat has made some constrained changes to the content page management which makes it difficult to post a blog. Rest assured i've fired an email their way..)

The cats were being very cooperative one fine day and the results were better than i'd have expected especially in simple black and white.

I guess i did lie a bit earlier.. i did pull out my DSLR 2 weeks ago to take head shots for one of my friends. He will be graduating with me and wanted some professional ones done for his LinkedIn profile.

Nothing too fancy. Two diffused light sources, on camera speedlite flash and a white wall. Took me a while to get the exposure right but it worked out well after some editing.

Now that the snow has melted away in Fredericton, I will be starting my walk about photography sessions and concentrate on a technique called 'visual push-up'. In my mind i like to think of it as 'texture study' and it concentrates not on a specific subject but the ability to pull something interesting and abstract from everyday objects.

AdoramaTV did an excellent video on this technique. ------>

And with that i will take your leave..

cheers
