(5-11-2012) - What's in your Bag?

[ Listening to - Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 ]
I've been meaning to do this lil' bit for a while now but it just kept slipping my mind. It was an idea put forward by the folks at Lifehacker quite a while bag to neatly assemble and organise the things that loiter in your bag, like unpaid piggy back riders, on a table. Then take a picture of it.

I guess the idea here was to help people get rid of unwanted junk and sort between the absolute essentials. This was followed by sorting the required essentials on a table in a grid like fashion to appease the god of perfectionism just so you can click an aerial picture of every item at once.

You will notice that this particular post is not sectioned into, my usual, 2 column setup just so it's easier to identify every object in the picture below.

Lets try and reason with the items above shall we?

1.   Bose around ear headphones ( the quality is top notch and it doubles as ear muffs during the winter )
2.   Smartphone ( i don't really have to explain that one do i? )
3.   Macbook Pro ( it's my main computer and hold all my information, photos and media )
4.   A 1 TB external Hard drive ( back up storage and essential to a graduate student with research logs )
5.   Glasses ( cause people think i'm weird when i have to squint just so i can read text far away )
6.   Wireless mouse ( because using a trackpad can be an ergonomic nightmare when editing photos )
7.   Thunderbolt to VGA adapter ( for presentations )
8.   Advil ( because i'm an engineer... nuff said )
9.   iPad ( helpful during meetings and quick data manipulations )
10. eReader ( because it lasts 40 days  on a single charge and i love reading... off late )
11. Stylus ( for the iPad )
12. Pedometer ( it's just a 'health-conscious' thing )
13. Hand sanitizer ( cause you don't want to catch the next big 'animal' related flu, do you?)
14. Macbook Pro charger ( it'd just be plain silly to leave that out )
15. 16 GB thumb drive ( barely use it after Dropbox but it barely takes up any room )
16. Calculator ( numbers is what i do best... i think.. )

I guess what i'm trying to say is that this little exercise has helped reduce the load i have to carry everyday and i would urge all of you to give this a try. Click a picture of your assembly and email the photo to me at
or share it on my Facebook Page.

I will feature the pictures, if any, in my next blog post relating to the series.
Next, i think i will do a similar bit with the contents of my camera kit bag.

Till the next click..

adios..
